Easter Sunday Testimonials 2010
I may have talked about this before however it came to me to tell this again. For the past three years I have driven to Newberg and of course back home in every kind of weather conceivable. I remember very well when I was introduced to Oregon fog. The kind of fog you can barely see the road in front of you. The road from Brooklane Road to River Road NE comes to a junction where I would turn to drive to St. Paul. I cannot remember how many times I almost or would have missed the turn if the farmer's in the area didn't have their porch lights on. I grew to have such a deep appreciation for these people even though we had never met. Little light beacons along the road to help me reach my destination.
Reverend Jill Nelson once told a story about a boy who was lost out in the woods and it was cold and dark. Then to his amazement he saw a light coming towards him. Small at first but he was so happy to see this light and know someone was coming to find him.
So she posed this question to us. Would you rather stay out in the dark lost or go with the one who has the flashlight? Well all of us chose the guy with the flashlight. Pretty much makes sense right?
Jesus is our beacon in this life and so is our church. I know in my heart that even the one timers who have come or the ones who came for awhile and went out to walk a new path remember
the love in our SSOL home. That is what SSOL means to me. Sanctuary, Serenity, Peace and a Home full of love with a dad (our Pastor) who loves and likes each of us unconditionally.

Salem Spirit of Life Church has been a life-changing experience.
It is a warm welcoming place where no one is judged by appearances or past faults. All are received with dignity and a sense of self-worth. There I have found a place within myself that feels compelled to help humanity through charity. To get involved in life in a new way and pull myself out of the sidelines where once I was stagnant.
It is a great place for making friends, bonding, and becoming part of a family. We help each other grow and learn and to use our special gifts that God has given to us for the betterment
of all humanity.

When I think about what Salem Spirit of Life means to me three things come to mind; people, pastor and love.
People because the first thing that was so apparent on my first visit (and remains true to this day) to Salem Spirit of Life was the openness and genuine friendliness of the people who attend
Salem Spirit of Life Church.
Pastor because Pastor Don is so dedicated to his calling as pastor of Salem Spirit of Life. Even through diversity and trials
the church goes through he is even diligent and faithful to his calling. God has definitely called Pastor Don to this ministry
and has given him the true heart of a pastor.
Love because that is what the Holy Spirit has bestowed upon Salem Spirit of Life Church. The first two things that came to mind, people and pastor, are reflected in the love that is bestowed on Salem Spirit of Life Church. Upon entering the fellowship of SSOL the love of the people, pastor and Holy Spirit are so demonstrated that there is no doubt and is so apparent “That They Will Know We Are Christians By Our Love”.
